"Oh God, My God!
How I search for You!
How I long to
find You!
How I wish I could
go into Your
sanctuary
to see Your strength
and glory..."
Psalm 63:1, 2 TLB
Beneath the Mask
by Kathie Iselin © frompapagod.com
I have put on a mask for all the world to see...
A face of calm composure that's really not me.
When someone kind inquires, how are you my dear...
I hide my true feelings and let the mask appear.
I'm so fearful of revealing, my sad and broken heart...
For what would happen if anyone saw me fall apart.
The world's expectations tell us to stay strong...
So on goes the brave front, even though it's wrong.
I long to bear my soul and cry out in despair...
But who's there to listen and would they really care.
I hold on to my faith, yet there's anger and doubt...
Which causes feelings of guilt, till I want to shout.
Does anyone know exactly how I feel...
Trapped in this nightmare I don't want to be real.
Can you hear me Lord, for I can no longer stand...
Please reveal Yourself, so I can reach for Your Hand.
For You have always seen, beneath the mask I wore...
Help me now, I don't want to wear it any more.
"The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold
in times of trouble. Those who know Your name
will trust in You, for You, Lord, have never
forsaken those who seek You."
Psalm 9:9, 10 NIV
